August Mission Support: Global Health Ministries (GHM)
Global Health Ministries’ first President and CEO, Dr. Leonard Akland used to say “We are not just another social organization that cares. We want to be a ministry of Jesus Christ to all corners of the earth.” As one example, in July they celebrated 100 years of Lutheran mission in Cameroon and Central African Republic. The words on a Lutheran Health Center sign in Cameroon read “We Treat, Jesus Heals” as a proclamation of their faith and the work of GHM. Every year for 35 years, GHM has shipped at least one huge shipping container full of vital medical supplies and equipment to the Lutheran healthcare system in this country.
