Bible Study, Book Study and other groups have returned!

Sunday forums are held on Sunday mornings. Topics of interest are discussed during the 10:45am Education Hour in the Worship Area.
There is also a Bible Study offered on Tuesday mornings at 10:00am (see calendar). Wednesday Night Adult Education often includes book studies and takes place at the same time as Confirmation. Other adult education opportunities, such as workshops and guest speakers take place throughout the year.
Our senior ministry team plans monthly events, but is on hiatus at this time.
J.O.Y. (Just Older Youth) lunches are scheduled several times a year on Fridays at 11:30am. The lunch is catered and free to all. Lunch is followed by bingo with prizes.
Bake Sale is an annual WELCA event taking place in November. Scandinavian treats such as LEFSE, sanbakels, pizzelles, krumkake, rosettes and more are prepared at church and are sold with donated baked goods. This is a very fun and popular event that is always well attended.
Habitat for Humanity is an organization that Holy Nativity has been involved with for the past 12 years building many houses in the North Minneapolis and surrounding areas. Thrivent Builds is a building project sponsored by Thrivent Financial and Habitat for Humanity. Holy Nativity has participated in this summer project since 2006 and continues to need volunteers and donations each year.
Nativity Choir rehearses at 7:00pm on Wednesday evenings during the school year. We sing on several Sundays each month at the 8:30am and 10:30am services, as well as special services during the year.
Quilting Group meets on Thursdays at 9am to quilt, chat, snack and have fun.
The Church Council meets monthly and consists of the pastors, president, vice president, secretary, treasurer and a member from each ministry team (see below). The council has general oversight over the life and activities of the congregation.
The Library Committee meets to oversee Holy Nativity’s collection of books, including a children’s area. It is open to everyone.
Ministry teams meet once a month to plan and oversee programs vital to our church life. The teams are Finance, Christian Education, Hospitality, Parish Life, Personnel, Property, Outreach Ministry, Stewardship, Youth and WAM (Worship, Arts & Music). Women of the ELCA (WELCA, now called Women’s Ministries) are represented by two circles – Sarah & Elizabeth. All women are welcome to join either of the circles. All meet on a monthly basis for Bible study. WELCA also plans and conducts retreats, as well as fundraisers, including the annual Ethnic Bake Sale, for various worthwhile projects. In the spring all women are welcome to attend WELCA’s salad supper.

Altar Guild is in charge of ‘dressing’ the sanctuary for worship – draping the altar with the appropriate paraments, setting out candles, preparing for communion, etc. Men and women are invited to join Altar Guild.
Worship Assistants are the people who help make each worship service run smoothly. They are the greeters, coffee helpers, nursery helpers, scripture readers, ushers and communion assistants you see on Sunday mornings. Everyone is invited to take part in one or more of these activities. To be placed on the list of volunteers, contact the church office.
