Holy Nativity is honored to be part of the Peace Light Distribution throughout North America! The flame began in Bethlehem and is being passed all over the world. Each year, a child from Upper Austria fetches the light from the grotto in Bethlehem where Jesus was born. The light is carried in two blast proof miners lamps on an Austrian Airlines jet from Tel Aviv Israel to Vienna, Austria from where it is distributed at a Service of Dedication to delegations from across Europe who take it back, with a message of Peace, to their own countries. Austrian Airlines then flies the miners lamps containing the Peace Light from Bethlehem to New York City. The Light is then distributed across the country. Our flame traveled to Indianapolis, then to Milwaukee, across Wisconsin to Hudson, and then to New Hope. Cub Scout Pack 751 shared the peace light with us on December 13th. The candle is burning on our prayer table (by the altar), and will stay lit in our church through Epiphany. There is more information and a map at peacelight.org!
